Thus, the risk posed by the transport of chemical and biological materials increases proportionally. This type of transport must be regulated to avoid as much as possible accidents and incidents that may harm people, the environment or property. SecTrans-NAS is a project of the NRBC Centers of Excellence of the European Union, implemented jointly by the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Commission and the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and performed by international experts, dangerous goods specialists, with experience of hazardous materials and procedures. The project covers regulatory aspects, including the implementation of the international agreement on land transport of dangerous goods (ADR), training of all stakeholders in the transport chain, awareness raising, strengthening of preventive measures , the preparation and response to transport incidents or accidents involving these materials, the sharing of best practices and the activation of collaborative mechanisms in North Africa and the Sahel region.
